We had about 10,000photos when our iPhoto library became too unstable to use with confidence.
We looked at Lightroom and Aperture before finally deciding on Lightroom.
We've been happy and not looked back. We only put our top 1% of photos into iPhoto for easy uploading to Facebook/mobileme gallery etc.
I suggest using MRoogle (http://mroogle.edesignuk.com/) to search for threads about "lightroom or aperture", but most people end up saying that you can download both for 30days trials and then decide. But make sure you have plenty of time to play before you decide.
here are a few:

and also via google

Enjoy researching!
Can you give me the Reader's Digest story of why you chose Lightroom over Aperture?

Check your Apple System Profiler and see what it lists as USB ports/devices.
Nothing is listed, even though a device is plugged in.

So inside Objective-C actions I can use C++ methods or no?
Yes, you can. You will need an Objective-C method to receive the action, but it can simply be a thin layer around a call to a C++ method (on, say, a C++ object that is an ivar of your Objective-C class).

Hi
What I am trying to do is, When user clicks Login button there should be a window (Panel) comes out till the user respond to that Panel he/she should not be allowed to access other part of application.
But when ever I add panel to NIB the action target always goes to parent window's ".m" file not Panel's class. Can you please explain me how to direct the control to Panel's class rather parent's.
Thanks
Siva

i hope you're not just buying the UK Higher Education / UK Store for Education price for about ~120++ and then re-sell it here for double the price.
:)
120?! Nah, got it for 2.99 on ebay
Please do your thread-crapping elsewhere if you're not an interested buyer.
As per description, it's the full retail version.

Did anybody else notice this. I went to the Mac OS X part of version tracker and clicked on the Mac OS X Modem Update. It said in its list of computers that it was for teh Dual 1 GHz and the Dual 1.5 GHz mirrored doors. Just some typo, just thought of it being interesting.

I had an unfortunate, but very tiny Pisco spill on my left shift key.
Ever since, using the Air keyboard is very difficult. For now I am managing only with a cheap external keyboard.
Since Pisco is 40 percent alcohol based, it has mostly evaporated ever since, but the problem persists.
Is there a way to clean under the keys without voiding the warranty?
I will go to an Apple Store once back from my travels and hope for the best, but for now would like to try to fix the problem myself.
It was really a few drops of liquid, but it did its ugly job!!

lol, your welcome. It's a great machine. Really upgradeable. I mean, seriously, even 5 years from now, I think if I put in a 512mb vid card, 8gb of ram and two 400gb (or larger dependent on tech then) harddrives, something tells me it would at least keep up ok. I mean, look at the B&W G3 towers, those are still pretty capable and I don't feel that they are at all as upgradeable comparing them to other computers of their era, and comparing this to computers of it's era (memory wise.) Of course, you can't upgrade the processor on these boxes though.
**edit**
Actually it'd be like comparing to the G4 tower lol, even better.

One option to hunt down the slowness is YSlow (http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/), a add-on for Firefox with Firebug. Safari's developer tools (http://developer.apple.com/technologies/safari/developer-tools.html) also have a section for analyzing the network traffic to see what specific items on your page are downloading slowly.

I plan on running Windows via VMWare or Parallels on my MBP and I heard that Windows 7 requires more CPU to virtualize, I am just wondering if it's true, and if so, is it significant?
I will be running the virtualization probably constantly so I want to avoid anything that might slow down OSX. I hear 7 is the best choice for Boot Camp though, so I'm torn.
Any insight would be appreciated :)

This is exactly what i did. Just buy VPC with dos, then i got win95 (speedy) and windows 2000 for actual compatibilty and productivness. But yes, win2k will install fine on the dos version of VPC. and i'm pretty sure you can install linux distro's for pc on VPC.

Tons of manufacturers include them with their cases (Switcheasy and SGP come to mind off the top of my head)
