I have always in the past but when I tried on 2 separate occasions after purchase of white iphone they said they were cracking down on it. This was over the 611 number. I was going to wait until I get my bill and try again...

Changing the title in Edit>Advanced might get you more responses...
I have now done that :) But its weird how I actually named it correctly. The original iPhone is just called iPhone. The new one is iPhone 3G.

That one day of not freezing on first boot was luck i guess.
Since then it's been something new everyday. Yesterday it hung on the blue screen on first boot and it worked on second boot. Today it gave me a kernal panic on first boot with a bunch of text on screen, second time it worked..
what is the deal with it not working on first boot?

I have a 51 inch HDTV. I was all set, as the earlier threads suggest, to buy the 12 inch powerbook so that I can run the DVI to my tv with blootooth mouse and keyboard. After reading for the last few weeks, I am scared to get the powerbook for so much money until the intel switch. I need a new computer and figure I will get a 12 new or 14 refurbished ibook. I know that running the S-Video to my TV will be of less quality and resolution than the DVI but I want to know if anyone has worked on their TV with this and what they think. It seems like the iBooks are the better value right now. I figure I will get one with my employee discount and sell it for 4 or 500 next year and grab the new powerbook. Im betting that the Intel switch is going to be balls out for Apple. Im guessing they bring out all the stops and start making this race with PC serious.

ZDNet Clock (http://www.zdnet.de/apple_systemeigenschaften_zdnet_clock_download-39002345-90565-1.htm) and you got yourself a 3.2GHz 8-core (or faster) for free
wouldn't do it anyway! Haha

I want the ringer loud for phone calls, but the message alert is too damn loud. anyway to set the volume on text message alerts?
Some of the alert sounds that you can use are a little quieter by nature than others. Maybe go through them and see if you can find one that is a little less obtrusive? Hope this helps! :)

After the DP2 update, all Quicktime movies won't play.
Even the gesture videos in System Preferences won't show.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Hey guys,
I am giving away my iPad2 and would like to know how I must disable FaceTime associated wit this particular device and my e-mail. Is it enough to disable FaceTime from the app itself or do I need to disassociate this iPad with my e-mail?
In a couple of weeks, I will be buying a new iPad2 that I would like to use with my old e-mail, which is now associated with my e-mail. Maybe it is that simple that when I buy a new iPad2 and enter the same e-mail address, I will again get an e-mail message to verify it and everything will work again on a new device.
Do you have any thoughts on this?

in Windows can you open up the bootcamp control panel and select your OS X drive as the main startup disk?
And yeah, command+v should put your mac into verbose startup so we can see text showing everything that happens while OS X loads.

Greetings! I live in a blended family (I use mac :apple:, roommate uses pc  - haven't converted her yet). She and I would like to live in harmony and use a shared desktop workstation.
I've hooked all external components (mouse, keyboard, printer) via USB to a Lenovo K33415 Port Replicator. NEC AccuSync LCD also connected to Port Replicator via VGA.
When I plug her PC in, it recognizes all components immediately. My MacBook recognizes all components except the monitor.
Do I have to use a Mini DisplayPort to connect the monitor to the Mac? Or can I make it work as is with the USB?
Thank you sooooo much!!!! :o
Does the port replicator work with displaylink software? that's pretty much the standard for USB video: http://www.displaylink.com/ The os x driver is here: http://www.displaylink.com/support/mac_downloads.php
Note usb video is really slow to respond vs the displayport or dvi or vga because of the limited bandwidth and you will need the built-in screen on that macbook to install the driver but you should be able to watch youtube videos. Also, forget games, it does NO 3d.

I wonder who paid for his medical bills?
Why, us of course.
(Assuming you're American too).

And it might even be 8.1. Either way the PowerBook is pre-USB, so I'm not sure how a flash drive would work.

I'm afraid you'll be in the US$200 range (assuming you're using US currency). A new dell ultrasharp 17" will be less than $300, and a dell 2005fpw can be had between $400 and $500 (occasionally below $400)
