hey rodolfo, looks like you are pretty pumped for this. Anyway, i was thinking best buy galleria. Anyone have any info on them? I do have 15 bucks in certs, so i would like to use it anyway. Plus their return policy is better than apple 14day, and probably get 10 bucks back off 500. Anyway, i might be apple galleria if it doesn't pan out at best buy. I might call best buy later today, but i hate to be that 1000th caller haha.

Oh, will it harm the hardware? I always wanted to try but just afraid that it would hard the speaker. And I meant increasing volume of alarm clock only without affecting the others. As in, separate system something like that. I dont wanna use 3rd party alarm because I heard that they are battery consuming, is that true? Thanks :o

are there alternatives to these scripts?
i'd like to get F@H setup on a couple of rigs here at work and it's generally better to keep the terminal hidden so people don't kill it.

You're going to keep experiencing OS X in the positive motives you had a few days ago. Even though I have used OS X for over a year, I am still learning and liking it.
Don't worry about what PC users smack in your face. Just know that you are one owner and user of the world's smallest affordable, portable supercomputer.
BTW: You said you were going to get a new desktop in a year? Watch for the G5s.
Congrats.

They lay a wreath of oak leaves there every year on Oak Apple Day. Interesting stuff- and it may have pagan roots to it... I just wonder what made 1859 so special that they decided to abolish a 200 year old festival...

Disk Utility should be able to override any write-protection. Make sure you have the drive highlighted in the left column of disk-utility. (The actual drive, which is located above the volume.) Then select Partition, and select one partition (assuming you want a single partition) , name it, and click on Partition. See if this works.

Hi all
Does the 15' i7 Macbook Pro support 12.5mm height 2.5" SATA drives?
I found one by Western Digital 1TB 5400rpm, but it specifically states that it was 12.5mm in height.
If the mac doesn't what capacity can the MPB support up to ? as it looks like it can archive up to 6Gig with Sata 3.

It's so beautiful.
I got a Powerbook 12' on Wednesday. Its the first time i got a new Computer that didn't have any problem when installing the os, and using the buildin Hardware.
Also no problem with using a usb printer, usb storage devices and so on.
I was using Debian GNU/Linux since 1997 as my primay OS 99% of the day.
But the power MAC OS gives you is unbelievable. The terminal works great, all important things are available.
I wrote a termpaper with TeXShop and its an amazing piece of software. Everything works so smooth and I have no problems so far. I didn't even install my beloved vim because there was not need of editing a configfile.
And iTunes kicks ass ... I can see other macs playlists and can listen to them. I normally used noatun but this playlist management from iTunes is like dope :-)
I also have fink installed which gives me back my apt-get and apt-cache so now I really have the best of both worlds. A slick un*x os with a great gui and a huge set of applications.
I have not used my linux machine since I got the new Powerbook, and I think I'll get a new desktop next year which will be an apple too.
Thanks apple, awesome job on this piece of hardware and software.

Nein. It's probably more localized, ie, your connection, telecoms company doing updates; could be a host of things.
If it continues for more than about a week then I would get in contact with the ISP

My new Pioneer DVD burner supports 8x dual layer burning. The only media I see is 2.4x. Will 2.4x media burn at 8x, or do I just have to wait for 8x media to actually hit the shelves?

Go to the accounts preference panel. Select the user your want to edit and select edit. You will need to enter your password in the 'current password' field to unlock the other greyed out fields.
If you are editing the administrator account, you probably won't be able to change your short name. I'm not sure what you can do here, possibly create another administrator account and delete your old incorrect account. (AFTER copying all your user files and preferences to a backup disk).
If that doesn't work, reinstall your system and build everything from scratch.
There may be a way to edit your info in Net-Info database, but I wouldn't know how to do that.

Hello,
With so little info, here's my tip:
-More ram is only (significantly) useful if you max out the RAM you have.
-WD hard drives have a very good record. I have 5 2TB greens, and 1 3TB green: love them all, they are perfect for storage. Go for the blacks if you're going to boot or work off them.

I have the case. It feels great in my hand and is not bulky at all. Very snug fit too. Best of all it doesn't attract lint.
I keep my trusty defender for rough terrain, but this case should handle small drops fine.
I have a Zagg front and back, will this case work with the Zagg?

I accidentally deleted some picture files form my PC and I cannot get them back!!
I did find out that I had copied those picture files to my Ipad a couple of weeks before I deleted them. Is there a way to get them back from the Ipad to the Computer?
If I attempt to sync the ipad with the PC, will it bring the pictures back or will it delete the pictures of the Ipad too?
I also just got a new laptop and want to move all my Itunes and library to it, but I am unsure how to do that yet.
Thank you experts in advance

They know good products?
BTW. If all you can occupy your time with in line is count races then maybe you should bring a gameboy or a book.
