    Hi,
just bought a Macbook Air recently (2010 edition) and at the same time I bought a mini displayport-HDMI adapter and have been using that to display things on both an external screen and movies on my TV- similar to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-DisplayPort-DP-HDMI-Adapter-MacBook-Pro-Air-/170621528292?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b9d5e8e4

Now the other day, I took out the converter from the mini displayport on my mac while I could see my mac homescreen picture on my TV, and after putting it back it seems it cannot connect any more to either TV or external monitors.
When I insert the above converter the screen on my MBA turns blue for a second, just at it used to once it detected an external screen, but then nothing happens??? I am very new to the mac world, but can I accidently have turned some setting off or any clues on how to determine what is wrong here?
Unfortunately I dont knwo anyone with a mac I could just try my cable with.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm noticing jittery/jerky animations on my jb iphone 4 on 4.3.2 via pwnage. Anyone else experiencing this? The whole phone seems a lot less smooth this time around and I'm not sure why. Haven't installed any new jb apps that could be causing this. I did have a heck of a lot more trouble jailbreaking this time around (seems like I'm not the only one) but I can't imagine that's my problem.

    7 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, or
    8 a.m. on Friday, June 25."

Hey everybody, I'm in the market for a Mac Pro. I do allot of 3D animation rendering so it's incredibly processor intensive but I have only $2,300 to spend on it. Which means, I have to do allot of research as to which one is the fastest at that speed and I could always upgrade my ram and video cards at a different time. I want the bulk of the money to go towards the fastest Mac Pro I can afford that works great for intense rendering. Some of my 3D animations are over 3000 frames. Anyway, I've seen the cinebench test and it looks like the 4-core 2.8GHZ 2010 model is the slowest of them all. I was wondering, would you recoemmend that I get one off of Ebay? I have my eye on the 3.2GHZ 2008 machine and, if affordable, the 2.26 2009 machine which seems to be really fast. What is your opinion? I also compose music so I run allot of plugins, virtual instruments and sometimes over a hundred audio tracks at once. In other words, I push that processor to the limit!!! LOL

I have a cheap Bytecc external case. (Oxford 911 chipset) It has both firewire and usb2. I put a harddrive in one and a Lite-On DVD burner in the other.

Both work great for windows and mac.

I'm only thinking it still might be enough to stop google from using android if oracle is victorious

Oracle cannot stop Google from using/distributing Android. At most, they can tack on patent licensing costs. Push comes to shove, Android can move away from the patented technologies, and only damages would have to be paid out to Oracle.

But those licensing costs/damages just got a severe cut here. Of course, everyone who actually took a look at how Dalvik works vs the Oracle patents aren't too afraid at this point. This isn't about Android (the patent claims), only the Dalvik VM remember.

but 'cause it never installed properly I never registered it properly so I don't think I can update but I'll give it another go.

EDIT: ok the updates seem to download fine, it used to be that you needed to register to get them so I'm downloading them now

but I did have an idea, if I put my old MBP into target disc mode can I use it's ports from my new machine???

Cant offer to much specific help, but I THINK most/lots of miniDV camcorders can take a regular video signal as an imput and pass it along as a DV data stream. So, in theory, a nice DV camcorder could do both of the things you are looking for.

A microphone signal output is too low to plug right into your computer. This is where a microphone pre amp comes in,it boosts the gain of the signal to a high enough level to record with your PC.I think a hardware compressor would be of use.Saving you possible processing time on the computer, but I don't think you really need it.I imagine they employ some safety measures like this in broadcast.

I do have a 1TG hard drive that I can partition. Is is easy to link to itunes though so it can read the movies??

    Yes.

In iTunes, you can change the location of your iTunes library to any volume accessible by your computer. Change the path to the volume on your external drive and then import your music, and you'll be all set.

Hey folks, I have a couple questions if anyone can help!

    1. I've been looking at Logic Studio in the education store for when i go to uni in september, is there any difference or limitations etc buying it through the education store? Its a huuugeee discount for there not to be some kind of differences....

and 2. I want a MIDI keyboard to use with it, and wondered if anyone can recommend a good one? budget is around 150 and id like one with full sized keys, minimum 4 octaves, low latency, velocity sensitive etc

I'm pretty sure logic is the same no matter how you buy it.

As for a MIDI controller. There is no shortage of cheap keyboards but I prefer one that can make it's own sound because many times I don't want to bother turning on a computer.
