great! Thanks for quick reply. I have an ext hard-drive, I was just checking that my model could handle the upgrade??
How would I do it? form the hard drive, I am a complete novice at this stuff!
sorry, not the hard drive model, the Mac mini. all I know is that I would put the leopard 10.5 on the ext hard drive then.....

Trying to open ports to allow hosting Killing Floor games, but no matter what I do, it doesn't want to open them.
The following ports are used by the game:
7707 UDP/IP (Game Port)
7708 UDP/IP (Query Port)
7717 UDP/IP (GameSpy Query Port)
28852 TCP/IP and UDP (Allows your Server to Connect to the Master Server Browser)
8075 TCP/IP (Port set via ListenPort that your WebAdmin will run on)
20560 UDP/IP (Steam Port)
* Linksys E1000 router w/ latest firmware installed
* Computer is assigned a static IP address (wired connection)
* Port Forwarding and Port Range forwarding have been configured
* Have tried DMZ to my Mac, no difference
* Mac OS X Firewall is disabled
* Router firewall is disabled
* Firewall On with the app on the allow list isn't making a difference
This web-based tool and Network Utility keep showing the required ports as "closed" even though I have set up port forwarding to my Mac's IP and there are no firewalls in place.
http://www.canyouseeme.org/
Here's the thing: if I enable something like Web Sharing (port 80) in Sharing, it opens and closes the port just fine, and those two utilities show the port's status properly.
But no matter what I do, firewall on or off, I can't get ports 7707-7717 and the others to become "open" on my Mac.

Hi All,
This may upset some people but, frankly, I found the locator database of the iPhone quite amusing and useful.
I truly think that all the wopla, including a class action in USA, for this locator database is just overkill.
After all the database is on my iPhone and my iMac, both protected under my responsibility.
So I really liked the idea of having the possibility of looking back on my travels etc.
Now Apple will remove al of this.
My question now is, Is there an APP that does the same thing ?
As I said, this may upset some people.

The article you linked to is very old and was corrected by an update. Apple uses AMD discrete GPUs in it's 15" and 17" MBPs. I don't think we'll see anything AMD in the 2011 Mini.
It'd be a huge surprise if Apple chose to use and AMD CPU in the Mini considering they're unlikely to use a non-Intel CPU in any other Mac running OS X.

I have a similar problem, as a Brit I have a bunch of Region2 DVD's that I bought in the UK. Now living in Canada, I now have a bunch of Region1 DVD's. Luckily my DVD player can play multi-regions, but my PC/Macs can't.
Assuming he owns the DVD's (legal point) he could rip them so that the region code is removed - Mac The Ripper will do this. Unfortunately it seems that most software requires that the latest DVD drives are set to the correct region code prior to ripping. So best rip the whole lot at one time, before changing the region code again.
Alternatively buy a second DVD-ROM drive and use that for the other region.

Well, I'm a good way into Episode 1, and I am actually really enjoying it. :)
Once you get past the control scheme (point'n'click would have worked much better!), there's actually a real Monkey Island game to be enjoyed here. The humor isn't as obnoxious as I had feared from the demo, it's actually really fun!

Can anybody recommend a good iphone 4 case with a little pop out stand so you can prop up your phone while you watch videos? Thank you.

"Artistic" is a subjective term that varies from person to person. To me, suggesting that Incubus is "artistic" is laughable, but I like classical music. Perhaps you'd care to qualify what you mean by "artistic" a little more? Because any type of music could be considered as such.

I'm sure this question has been beaten to hell by now, but why once more? I currently own a late 2008 15" C2D 2.4ghz 4gb 500gb HDD unibody that I bought as a refurb in early 2009. I'm in architecture grad school and use it for CAD/design work while at school and occasional gaming/web surfing while home. When at home, I do all CAD/design on the desktop.
Reasons I want to upgrade: Bootcamp CAD/Rendering is unbearable, gaming is okay but it gets super hot, and I can't stand a conventional HDD anymore after switching all my other computers over to SSD and i'd like to up the ram a little.
Option 1:
So I can sell the 2008 for about 1k and buy a 2011 refurb this summer for approx. 1.5k and then add a SSD for 150. So the upgrade will cost me $700 about.
Option 2:
Just upgrade to a SSD and add an additional 4gb of memory to the 2008 and make do until 2012, when I plan to upgrade to a MBA for portability since I wont be doing design anymore and can get by with a 13"
My question is, are the new i processors and graphics cards going to give me noticeable performance increases for my uses or will upgrading the 2008 solve the majority of my problems?
